2,600 miler list

Today I got 3 copies of the Spring 2018 PCT Communicator in the mail. Turns out they published the comment I submitted when filling out my trail completion form! "For me, the trail embodied the confidence to say "away with social norms" and experience life in its fullest.  No to saying women shouldn't be alone in the wilderness, no to saying you need more material goods to be happy, and no to people being afraid of each other.  On trail we were a community not defined by sex, lived out of ultralight backpacks where we constantly got rid of any little thing we didn't need (even if it was only an ounce), and trusted those around us to feed, drive or house us.  We also watched each other's backs and made sure everyone had what they needed. Yes it was an extreme, a utopia of sorts (aside from the pain of hiking over 2,000 miles lol) but these are all things we can bring to "real life" as well.
